wall art...

One thing I absolutely adore about urban expressions is the creative ability to beautify otherwise drab spaces with the stroke of a brush. I gaze at these spaces in awe because I remember the days when many were punished severely for what was then labelled "graffiti". Somehow, one day someone decided that graffiti was an acceptable form of art and now many beg to have their walls tagged.

I imagine that for each passerby, something different catches their eye in these murals. (click on photos to enlarge)

Any of these murals speak to you?
If so, you should probably see someone about those talking walls ;)

I can't imagine having the amount of talent the artists that created these must have! I love the guys playing dominoes in the first image.

I find this art fascinating. I love to see murals painted on the side of buildings. At our high school, there were murals stretching down almost every hallway. It was awesome to look at! The art department did it, and students got to help!

Thanks for the eye candy!!

I love the bigger-than-life colors in all of the murals, but the top one speaks the loudest to me. I can hear city street life pouring in, feel the humid, night air sticky on my skin, and smell the grit, the car exhaust, a charcoal grill somewhere far off. Maybe see a tired mom pulling clothes in off the line. Oh, and laughter. Laughter never stops when you have your windows open in a picture like that.

As you well know, graffiti is one of my biggest loves. I know some are offended by it, but I am fascinated by the hands that create this wall art. I know most of the creative people who I have met that do this, have never been near an art school. What a shame.

We traveled into Philadelphia last week after just moving home to PA, and I was amazed at all of the murals I saw from the train, and on our carriage ride through the city. It is awesome that cities have finally embraced the talent and beauty of these artists. I wish I knew my way around better so I could find some on my own!

Beautiful photos, thanks for sharing!
