Greetings friends,
My daughter and her cousins had a blast celebrating Earth Hour together at our home last year . Imagine my excitement when she came home from school on Monday and announced that this weekend it's that time again. I am soooo honoured to be the parent of a socially-conscious child who has great respect for Mother Earth.
This Saturday, March 27, 2010, the world will once again observe Earth Hour. It's a global event wherein we are asked to turn off our lights for just 1 hour starting at 8:30 pm (local time) to collectively make a statement about climate change and saving our planet. Won't you please join us?
I'm so curious to hear about how you plan to spend that hour. hmmmmm.
as always, one love.

i will be joining my friend.
This will be our third year observing earth hour. We turn everything off and light candles and then read to the kids in the candle light.
thank you for this reminder Se'lah...unfortunately, it seems people here in Andalusia are much more concerned with the preparations of Semana santa ! but yes, i'm curious...
This is the first I've heard of this.
Sounds very interesting.
That reminds me of when we have blackouts, which we have had many of in the years we've lived in this house. I really love that time when my family all gathers together in the livingroom, and everything is so quiet and we talk! Although, my husband usually falls asleep and my 17 year old son complains! Oh, well. I would love to spend that hour this way, without the complaining and sleeping!
We love Earth Hour. Our town really gets into it and as for our home -- it's candlelight all the way! I am surprised at how many don't know about Earth Hour. You are doing a good job helping spread the word.
This is the first I've heard of it, I think. Although I kind of remember something similar last year, so maybe this was that!! I will definitely try to remember to participate, but does the computer and TV have to be turned off, too? =)
We loved joining in on this last year and will do again this weekend! :o) Last year we lit lots of candles, made some snacks beforehand to enjoy, we tried to use no electricity at all--no radio, no computer, etc.--just talked and enjoyed the quiet. Silence is a very precious things in this busy life...silence and darkness lit by candles...a very good thing. :o) Thanks for this good reminder, Se'Lah! ((LOVE & HUGS))
hmmm...since it is just the darling husband and me at home...an hour sounds just about right LOL!!!!
what an amazing little girl you have, what a future she has ahead of her, i will have to remember to turn off our lights and cuddle by the candle light
love and hugs
It's great that your daughter and her friends are really excited about participating. Good for them. They are our future. ;-)
Paz
Oh .. I may be out for dinner at that time. But if I am home by then, I will light candles and spend the time meditating or relaxing.
There is nothing quite like candles in the darkness.
I so look forward to switching off the lights simultaneously with those who can tomorrow.
Sending lots of love and positive vibes your way.
one love, my dear friends.
Your daughter's consciousness is inspiring, as is her mother's. :)
