and i think...

i drive along pink paved streets
and i think of the little girl dressed in pink who,
who instead of playing marbles in the dirt with the boys,
is outside earnestly searching for, and hoping to find,
a few randomly spilled grains of rice for dinner.

i gaze at the ocean
beating against the rocks
and i think of those stricken by unforeseen circumstances
who now depend on the generosity of others
surviving, bruised, but still not broken.

*among others, i see you ayiti. one love.

How often we take our lives for granted. How often we forget there are others out there far less fortunate than ourselves. Thank you for reminding us to think about them.

I'd echo what Chris says above..we in the western world are spoilt indeed and we easily end to forget it..A big hug to you, Se'lah...

Hi Se'lah, you have such a loving heart. I am always glad to come here and read your posts. Thank you for the reminders. The weather has been so tragic all over. I still think we can all find ways of giving, thank you for reminding me of what is really important today. hugs.

In my daily meditation I lift my heart and mind to those who struggle... I admire how beautifully and gently you remind us to keep those meditations going. Happy Day, my friend ((BIG HUGS))

Se'lah,
Your blog is lovely and peaceful, artsy too. Love the pics. I'm not sure what else to say, other than I enjoy clicking over and seeing your newest post.

I enjoyed the "love" in the sand. I do those things too. We must remind ourselves everyday to think of others and to strive for peace. Happiest thoughts. Anna, The Lemon Lady

When I was a kid and complained about not having something my Mom would say "I once complained because I had no shoes, and then I saw a man who had no feet" Wise words I've never forgotten. You bring them out again in new poetry. Thank you

Oh Selah, sometimes you nearly bring me to tears with just a few words. And yes - an 'out of sight; out of mind' mentality is a horrible thing to have, but at times we're all guilty of. Thanks for keeping us 'reeled' in & reminding us to be thankful.
