we are one...

Only when the last tree has died
and the last river been poisoned
and the last fish been caught
will we realize we cannot eat money
(based on Cree saying)

Even as I daydream about the most welcome respite, my heart breaks for those who will enter this summer facing dramatic lifestyle changes due to the catastrophic unnatural disaster along the Gulf Coast. To Mother Earth, and all sentient beings living in the oceans and surrounding ecosystems, prayers sent up.

We are all connected. one love.

We have not treated our Mother Earth kindly .. we continue to ravage and deplete her. One day she will rage against the parasites who are methodically destroying her. I love your tender hearted posts. Thank you for reminding us of the pain that is being caused, and those who will suffer the ravages ....

That cree saying hits the heart... The Gulf situation is much on my mind all the time. Our Earth and her resources are so precious... when will Big Business get it?! The bird in flight--it seems like a beacon of hope. I will HOPE. ((LOVE & HUGS))

Yes, "we are all connected" and our very survival depends upon one another. Sadly, many of us still don't get this. I join you Se'Lah in your prayers.

A very wise saying. Another disaster that I feel like more effort is being put into blaming than is being put into fixing. We really need a bunch of mom's running things!

Se'lah, oh how beautifully said. This is such a truth, we so depend on our Mother Nature, I don't get it that knowing what we know today, many people are so selfish and tehy don't care. It breaks my heart to see the distraction. We have to preserve the planet for our children and their children, they have the right to live on a healthy and happy planet. I'm so joining you in the prayer!! one Earth. One love.

We are holding our breath to see if it comes around via the gulf stream and hits our beloved St. Simon's. I cannot stand what it is doing to the people, agriculture, and wildlife in that area...

Beautiful bird, majestic creature!

So beautiful, the bird. Heartbreaking, the poem--and the situation in the gulf.

There is something you can do right now, this moment, that could have a lasting impact for many years. The U.S. Senate Democratic Caucus is meeting this afternoon in Washington, D.C., very likely as I type, to decide precisely how we as a nation will respond to this crisis.

It's not too late to call and tell your Democratic senators what you want them to decide in this meeting. Go to Repower America's Report your call page (includes info on how to call your senator and some tips for those who, like me, might feel a little tongue-tied).

Ever since we've had a taste of our own little oil spill here in Salt Lake City, Utah, I've come to have a deeper concern for the magnitude of what is going on in the gulf.

Great post.

This is a beautiful saying Se'Lah and how true... It is such a tragedy what is happening along the Gulf coast. Such a terrible impact on the lives of the people who live there and the eco-system... I love the bird photo - such a powerful symbol of strength and hope. Thank you for your words and your prayers.xo
