It comes as no surprise to those who know me that my heart belongs to Africa. I am forever connected to her; she gave birth to generations who were enslaved and their blood runs through my veins. I can't help but send her love, for she is part of me and I am a part of her. Selah.
After a reasoning session with Lyn about her planned trip to the Motherland, I asked her for one small favour, Please place your palm on her soil and tell her I sent her peace and love.
Imagine my surprise when she blessed me with this photo upon her return, along with this note, As promised, I placed my palm on the red soil of Kenya and prayed a silent prayer of thanks and remembrance for you. I then wrote your name using the marbled stones of the African earth.
It literally broke me down to tears...happy, happy tears. I've placed the above photo, with Lyn's permission, in my header to remind me of the immense love that exist here in blogland, in Africa, and throughout the world.
It also serves as a personal reminder that there are human beings in this world, who wake up every single day, still being forced to live as slaves. oh JAH JAH! i pray for them.
One World. One People. One Love.
*thank you, Lyn.

Tears to my eyes too. This is so beautiful. You have such a way about you that brings such thoughtful consideration to life.
SE'LAH, it was my pleasure to fulfill your special wish. As I have told you, Kenya had a profound effect on me. I felt a connection to the land and spirit of the people unlike anything I have ever felt before. Your request sat perched on my consciousness and was only natural to fulfill. Just sending you love back 'round.
Peace to you my friend.
Lyn
So beautiful. Touches my heart. What a wonderful and special gift to fulfill that wish. Peace.
Se'lah, you brought me to tears. What an amazing gift for Lyn to have done for you. ....I have friends that go away during their travels, and they ask what they can bring me back. I need nothing, I always say, just pick me up a little rock off the beach...they look at me like I am crazy, to me it is a piece of where I will probably never get to....but to me those rocks and sea shells mean everything. hugs to you Se'lah.
Se'lah, me again...I love your new header. It is beautiful. One love.

Hey, have you heard the song, "Wake Up (It's Africa Calling)" by Youssou N'Dour? I think you'd like it.

A simple gift...but oh so priceless!

A wonderful tribute sent from you to your homeland and laid by a good friend - no more is needed in this world that these acts of kindness that unite us all.
Please pass the tissues...this is a tremendous gift!
I hope we all remember those in bondage and continue to work towards a better world for everyone.
Beautiful. Wonderful friend. Comforting story. Except the last. Now that slavery is underground in so many parts of the world, it is all too often hidden. Human trafficking, child trafficking a blight on our species. A friend, moments ago--just tiny moments before I read this--telling me of an enslaved child not far from where I live, lost before she could be saved.
One Earth, one people, one love. (Alice Walker and the Grandmother Spirit)
Please pass the tissue box back to me...
Love, it's sooooo amazing. I will forever treasure this gift from Lyn. Thanks again Lyn. you ROCK ;)
I continually pray than one day soon there will be an end to slavery in all corners of the earth.
Thanks Elizabeth. Cool tune. ;)
