Ayiti Palé...

it shook me down
to my soul
and I'm still feeling aftershocks
tremors in my heart
the fury of nature
tries to tear our world apart
but still
I stand tall.
Like the phoenix
rising from the ashes
my people,
we will conquer all
for I know
what the meek shall inherit
and though they
disparage and discourage
I have an encouraging word
written across my heart
like these words written across my flag:
L'Union Fait La Force
let me know,
twice,
I am never alone.
I may be beaten down
7 times 7
but 7 more times I will try again
I will rise again
stronger than I was before
I will never give up,
I will never give in
because our Father keeps the final score
I know if we endure, we will win.
