a choice, and a blessing...

have you got any fun plans for this weekend?
this weekend, i will be making a prayer flag
for one of you! it's just my little way of
reciprocating the love you show me every day.

i plan to reserve, should JAH allow,
7 minutes by candlelight
in prayer and meditation
during this earth hour.

for i recognise and appreciate
that turning off my light switch
for 60 minutes of one day
is a choice, and a blessing.

i have fellow countrymen, women, and children
who sleep beneath warm Caribbean skies
as the earth below puffs out soft gray clouds of ash

what i eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner
what i drink to quench my thirst
which bed i fall asleep in
is a choice, and a blessing.

i have brothers and sisters in haiti
who are still waiting for help
even as the trade winds blow
and the heavens above them crack open.

so, for 7 minutes of earth hour
i will go to a place of serenity,
reach out and touch their spirits
and sit with them in silence.

*EARTH HOUR will be observed worldwide on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 8:30 p.m. (local time).

*if you would like a chance to be the randomly selected recipient of one of my hand-made prayer flags, please leave a comment on this post by Monday, March 29, 2010.

*Have a Conscious Friday and a divine weekend.
one love.

I too look forward to this hour. Thanks to your interview post earlier this week, I've aquainted myself with Thich Nhat Hanh. I hope to teach my children the art of breathing during this years earth hour.

I've been listening to Bob and the Wailers on my car stereo. Nice. Nothing exciting planned this evening; however, last evening I performed a wedding for my niece and her guy. Sunday...early mother's day dinner. I'd love your handmade prayer flags.

**Earth Hour**
I participated in this last year, and then I noticed NO one in my neighborhood did. When the ads for this year came up, I said 'nah'.
Then came the post here, and you and your daughter's obvious excitement. I made a promise to myself long time ago that I would learn from my kids. So, I
amended my constitution to include other people's kids. Please thank your daughter for me. and I'm sure Mother Earth thanks her as well!

I did the earth hour yesterday. I don't know how many did it where I live, I felt good knowing I was part of something life affirming and positive. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

the idea of a card a week to your friend is a lovely idea; I try to do that all the time. My gift of jewels friend is going thru some rough times so I decided to send her some extra love :-) It would be an honor to receive your prayer flag!

Such a wonderful idea Se'Lah to send a little piece of love and hope in the mail to your friend each week. Receiving good mail is such a lovely surprise. I don't know if I am too late to be entered into the prayer flag draw as I'm not sure if it's still the 30th of March where you are!!
