The Dawn of a New Day...

OH HAPPY DAY !!!
MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY

"Selected Quotes" by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.:

*I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality.

*We must all learn to live together as brothers or we shall perish together as fools.

*Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

Today, we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day but somehow, this year it means just a little bit more. As a Black woman, I am elated to bear witness to the dawn of this new day. It is a weekend of historical significance as we eagerly await the inauguration of the first Black President of the United States, Barack Obama, and realise that without the foundation laid by men like Dr. Martin Luther King, this day would not have been possible. This is our moment.

Thank you Dr. King !!!

I just finished looking at the "We Are One" concert that was staged in front of the Lincoln Monument on Comcast On Demand and saw Samuel L. Jackson speak of Dr. King.

I have honored Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday before and felt obligated to take the day off before the company I worked for acknowledged it as a holiday. However, I could only image the overwhelming feeling citizens felt at the strength of Dr. King's message about equality, peace and love back then. But now because of President Obama's climb to the White House, I can feel that same strength in real time. Thanks for sharing!
